As of February 2022, the Design App offers the option to utilize a True Ortho aerial imagery/map layer with an exceptionally high resolution of 8 cm. True Ortho imagery provides a precisely vertical view of the Earth’s surface, eliminating the tilting effect commonly observed in traditional orthophotos. This ensures that nearly every point on the ground is visible with enhanced accuracy.
True Ortho photographs are captured with a high degree of forward and lateral overlap. This additional data is then processed using advanced software to produce a final product with 0% distortion. For reference, the image on the left demonstrates the appearance of a traditional orthophoto, while the image on the right illustrates the clarity and accuracy of a True Ortho image, where all distortion has been entirely removed.
In practical terms, this means that all buildings displayed in the map layer appear perfectly orthogonal (top-down, with no tilt). As a result, you can create more visually accurate and aesthetically appealing layout plans within the Design App.
It is important to note, however, that downloading True Ortho images incurs a cost of €0.12 per downloaded image. If you choose to set the True Ortho map layer as your default map layer, you will be charged €0.12 for each design you create or reload.
