New Novasole AI Feature for Faster Solar Panel Design and Battery Integration

16 September 2025

Novasole introduces groundbreaking technology that automatically detects rooftop objects and, at the push of a button, generates a complete solar panel system design using only a postcode and house number.

The Hague-based software provider’s new feature leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to instantly identify objects such as chimneys, pipes, dormers, and existing solar panels on rooftops.

85 percent
This innovation raises the accuracy of automated designs by 15 percent, achieving a ‘first time right’ score of 85 percent and significantly reducing the need for manual adjustments.

Novasole is the first company in the Netherlands—and Europe—to offer this level of object recognition detail. The technology is available immediately for existing and new customers, with free trial accounts open to all new users.

Smarter Solar Designs
“With object recognition, we move from automated to truly intelligent design. Professional PV system planning is now child’s play,” says Roel Pronk, co-founder of Novasole.

The benefits extend across the value chain. Installers and sales teams can deliver faster, error-free designs without expert knowledge, while wholesalers, manufacturers, and software developers can integrate the data directly into their CRM and ERP systems via API connections.

Energy suppliers gain insights into the existing solar panel installations, enabling targeted battery propositions for the more than three million Dutch households already equipped with PV. Policymakers and grid operators also benefit from improved visibility into generation capacity, supporting smarter congestion management.

Designed for Europe
Novasole’s technology is ready for rapid deployment in other European markets, including Belgium, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and France. Yield calculations are ISSO-certified, ensuring reliable quality.

Interested companies get access to the technology directly or connect with our partner network, with integrations to platforms like Salesdock (Netherlands) and Blox Software (Belgium and Netherlands). “The energy transition needs accessible, intelligent tools that truly support installers, suppliers, entrepreneurs, and consumers. With object recognition, we’re making a major step forward helping solar and storage becoming more accessible and efficient,” explains Menno Zonderland, co-founder of Novasole.
